JACKIE KING: Moon Magic - Freefalls Entertainment

A native Texan, Jackie King started playing mandolin at 8, and then switched to guitar. His early influence was country swing, but he also fell under the influence of greats like Django Reinhardt and Charlie Christian (who wouldn't?) and his sound is now shaped by experiences that include playing with Willie Nelson, George Jones, Sonny Stitt and Chet Baker.

He made his solo debut with the 1977 album Skylight, later teaching at Los Angeles' Guitar Institute of Technology. That led King to open his own Southwest Guitar Conservatory in San Antonio, running the operation for seven years. Moon Magic was the first CD under his own name since a solo album entitled Nightbird and a duet session with Willie Nelson entitled Angel Eyes, recorded in 1984. In 2001, he and Willie Nelson released another album entitled The Gypsy.
