These photos indelibly and unashamedly capture an important part of Americana - an aging generation of journeymen and all-star
jazzmen from Danny Barker and Panama Francis to Benny Carter and Dizzy Gillespie. Many of the photographs of these legends
were taken in the late 1980s, in some cases just a year or two before their deaths. Fewer than 20 of the 40-plus musicians
covered are still living, but these images can be yours forever.
